Gadar movie had been released on June 15, 2001 and turned out to be the biggest hits of Bollywood after Hum Aapke Hain Koun! (1994). After 22 years, Gadar movie has been re-released on June 9, 2023 and this is for the first time I am witnessing this film in theaters. The screen time of this film is 2 hours 50 minutes.
Story: The story of this film start from the day September 16, 1947 where the riots were going on between Hindu and Muslims. Both the communities people crossing the borders amidst riots. Its when, Muslim girl Ameesha Patel aka Sakina from Amritsar left behind and her parents able to board train from Amritsar to Lahore. Sunny Deol aka Sikh Tara Singh saw Sakina helpless at Amritsar railway station and saves her from his own people during the riots. As the story follows, we see that Tara knows Sakina since 1945, the time when she studies in Amritsar women’s hostel. After some flashback, the story again moves to 1947 partition, now Tara is taking Sakina to Lahore to her ancestral place. In the meanwhile, Sakina got to know that Tara loves her madly. So instead of going back to Pakistan, She marries Tara and stays in Amritsar. Well, after few years Sakina’s father Amrish Puri aka Ashraf Ali got to know about her whereabouts. Ashraf Ali takes her daughter back to Pakistan forcefully. Now, Sunny Deol with his son Utkarsh Sharma aka Charanjeet and his best friend Vivek Shauq aka Darmiyaan Singh moves illegally into Pakistan to get back Sakina. What happens next is worth watch.

Bollywood Crazies Opinion: Right from the story to its screenplay everything is perfect about this film. It is being considered as best partition film of India. I have watched this film for the first time on big screen on June 9, 2023 and I must tell you it was a long overdue for me to witness the spectacle. It is surely a film for the big screen and it is worth for your money. The action set pieces are so good that you can love it and enjoy every bit of it. The dialogues are the best thing about this film, which we still remember. Music is another highlight of this film, which gives more meaning to the story. The locations, production value also makes this film more authentic. Making a long film and making it entertaining is not that easy but Gadar is truly incredible. Director has done justice to the story and Sunny Deol is the soul of this film. Talking about performance, Sunny excels along with Ameesha Patel in terms of acting.

The editing work have been done by A D Dhanashekharan, Keshav Naidu, and Arun V Narvekar. The musical score has been given by Uttam Singh.

Altogether, Gadar Ek Prem Katha is a cult film and a must watch film only in theaters. Therefore, if you ever wanted to relived the magic of this grand film than only watch it in cinemas.
