Maidaan is the latest Hindi film which has officially released in theaters in India on April 10, 2024 from 6 pm onwards. The screentime of this biographical sports drama is around 3 Hours 1 minute.
Story: In this film, Ajay Devgn essayed the role of Indian football legend Syed Abdul Rahim who coached Indian team from 1950 untill his death in 1963. We see Indian football team journey from 1952 till 1962, which is also referred as the Golden Year Of Football. The makers showed us how Abdul Rahim find it hard to search football players from across India and trained them to play for the country. How politics has been played against Late Mr Rahim also showed in this film. His wife role has been played by Priyamani. Gajraj Rao aka Roy Choudhary has played a crucial negative shade character.
The early reviews of Maidaan movie is out and they are highly positive in a range of 3.5 to 4 stars out of 5 stars. This film currently holds 9.5 stars ratings out of 10 stars on IMDB.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: The story is superb and the dialogues are equally brilliant. The screenplay starts in a good way and we all easily enter in the world of Syed Abdul Rahim. The film gets a bit slow in the middle of the first half but ends on a high note on Interval. It was the second half which was full on fire. One thing I must admit, 3 hour long film looks like a 2 hour film and that’s the magic of the makers. The director has infused his heart and soul into this film and that’s why the film look beautiful on big screen. The background music and great cinematography are the highlight of this film. Talking about performances, Ajay Devgn stole the show by miles, some good performances also given by Gajraj and Priyamani. The editing work is also good and the makers could have easily trimmed 10 minutes. The production value is good and I was feeling like watching a live football match in front of me rather than sitting in theatre. The film is full of emotions and it connects with you easily which is an important thing. Sports film hardly works in India but this will have a chance to re-create history at the box office despite having a clash. The verbal and mind clash between Mr Rahim and Roy Choudhary is a treat to watch.

Maidaan movie budget hasn’t been revealed yet but it could reportedly be around 99 to 100 crores maximum.
Altogether, Maidaan is a must watch sports film for your family and friends. This film expected to recover the budget and might become a big hit.
Last Word: Watch it for its story, direction and Ajay Devgn. I think, Ajay might get his fourth national award as best actor.
