Netflix has released their latest film Serious Men on October 2, 2020. This film is based on a novel Serious Men written by author Manu Joseph. This film is 1 hour 53 minutes and there is hardly any song in this movie.

Like it’s name, it is a serious film talks about parenting and teaches us about how important is to nurture a child properly. After watching the whole film, you will understand how sometime parents extensively pressurise their child to excel in their studies and other activities.
This film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Indira Tiwari, Aakshath Das, Nassar, Sanjay Narvekar, Shweta Basu Prasad and many others. Nawaz character has seen enough failures in his life that he wants his son to be as intelligent like Einstein. Well, destiny has something else stored for him, as his son wasn’t that intelligent as he was expecting earlier. His son even failed to get an admission in a good school due to his low IQ. Nawaz than decided to make his son a brilliant kid but with wrong means. He gives science related materials to his son and tells him that he must read all despite his poor understanding of the subject. Soon, he teaches his son to question his own teacher with difficult questions. After than, from students to teacher, all think that Aakshath is a genius child. Soon, the child became the hot topic for media and political party. Nawaz even buys exam papers for the kid so that he score well in exams. Will Nawaz and his son’s secret ever get exposed or not? You have to watch the film to know that.
The budget of Serious Men hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it would reportedly be around 10 to 12 crores. The early response from critics are pretty good and they have rated this film in a range of 4 to 4.5 stars. In this way, this film will definitely be a hit among audience in online space.
Directed by famous filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, this film has been written by Bhavesh Mandalia. This film has been produced by Bombay Fables and Cineraas Entertainment. The cinematographer did a great job behind the camera. There is a scene in this film, when Aakshath shares about his secret to his school friend. Later, he tells his father Nawaz about the same and he calls Aakshath schoolmate on the terrace of the building. Soon, the camera pan out to a shot where three pigeons can be seen. That seen symbolises that, the secret has now been shared to the third person. I mean, that is the mastery of a cameraman in this film.
The background dialogues of Nawaz looks hard hitting and sometime funny too. Nassar did played a good job as a failed scientist who always shouts his PA Nawazuddin. Well, there are some incredible performances by Aakshath Das, Shweta and Sanjay Narvekar. Even Indira Tiwari surprised me with her performance as Nawaz’s wife.
Last word: Watch it for the marvellous performance of Nawazuddin and Aakshath. Also watch it for its brilliant story.
