Sardar Udham is the latest film which has officially released online on Amazon Prime OTT platform on October 16, 2021. The screen time of this patriotic film is around 2 hours 43 minutes.
Story: The story of this film revolves around freedom fighter Udham Singh played by Vicky Kaushal. Udham Singh is known for assassinating Brigadier General Michael O’Dwyer on March 13, 1940. General Dwyer was the former lieutenant governor of the Punjab and he was the one who order his men for mass assasination at Jallianwala Baug on April 13, 1919. He ordered his men for firing on over 20000 people who gathered there to celebrate Baisakhi. In that incident, 1000 of people have been killed or badly injured. To avenge the death of Indian People, Udham Singh went to London to assassinate the man behind this mass murder.

The story of this film set in 1931 when Udham plans to enter London with a passport to execute his plans. He later changes his plan and went to USSR. He later reaches to London in 1934 and tracks the life of General Dwyer from Morning to Night in order to make a plan to assassinate him. Well, this film also talks in details about what happen to Udham Singh legally when he killed Michael O’Dwyer.
This film also stars Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Banita Sandhu aka Shruti Tiwari, Kirsty Averton, Amol Parashar aka Bhagat Singh in key roles.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: Production design of this film is top-class. Setting an era of 1930’s wasn’t an easy one but the makers did made it work in the best possible way. The detailing work can be visible in every frames. I have never seen such a great production value in a patriotic film in contemporary Indian cinema. The Jallianwala Baug massacre have been aptly shown with great details and it was the highlight of this film. I am actually blown away by the visuals and the overall cinematic appeal of this film. This film is a testimony of how to make a periodic film with the right kind of material and element. The most difficult part of this film is to recreate the bygone era with minute details.The another major highlight of this film is the performance of the lead actor Vicky Kaushal. He absorbed the character so much that you feel its him living the role. It is his second best performance after URI. The canvas of this film is big and the long shots by Avik are breathtaking. It is a serious film and Shoojit has catered this subject without loosing his sight from the story. I am sorry but this is a film that should be only released in Cinema Theaters. It is not at all a OTT film in any way! The lengthy screen-time is the only drawback I felt, rest its ok.

This movie have been produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. The cinematography work has been handled by Avik Mukhopadhyay and the editing handled by Chandrashekhar Prajapati. The musical score given by Shantanu Moitra.
Sardar Udham movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly be around 60 to 65 crores minimum.
Altogether, Sardar Udham is such an important story that finally being told with camera lenses.
Last Word: Watch it for Vicky Kaushal’s strong performance. Also watch it for the strong production design that establishes the 1930’s of London.
