Churuli is the latest Malayalam film which has officially released on OTT platform Sony LIV on November 19, 2021. The watch time of this sci-fi crime thriller film is around 1 hour 54 minutes.
Story: The story of this film revolves around two dutiful police officers Chemban Vinod Jose aka Anthony and Vinay Forrt aka Shajivan. The two of these policemen turns undercover to get a hold on the wanted criminal Mayiladumpara Joy who is on a run. While on a search, the two of them lands in a village called Churuli, where they suspected the criminal must be hiding. Well, Churui wasn’t a normal village and things started getting weird with every passing day. It takes time for the two to understand that they have been stuck in a time loop. Will they able to catch the criminal or save themselves is what this story is all about.
This film also stars Joju George aka Geevar, Soubin Shahir aka Valliyam Sambhavan, Jaffar Idukki aka Menonkunju Nair in key roles.

Bollywood Crazies Opinion: First of all, making such a different Sci-Fi film in India and making it authentic is a big task. After Jallikattu, the director Lijo made sure to surprise the audience with this film too. This film has been shot and completed in a period of 19 days as per reports. The VFX work was good enough to keep you curious throughout the film. The story is completely unique and you don’t know what will happen in the next scene. The common thing between Jallikattu and Churuli is, both the films have been set in the Forest. The are some extraordinary shots in this film, that will keep you hooked, especially in the end. The background music adds more meaning to this story. The production value is good and the screenplay even works fine. Note, there are no songs in this film and it is not a typical masala entertainer, it is just a pure raw content oriented Sci-Fi film. The only negative thing in this film is, we were expecting more from it on a content scale still a good watch.
This movie has been co-produced and directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. It has also been produced by Chemban Vinod Jose. The cinematography of this film handled by Madhu Neelakandan. The musical score has been given by Sreerag Saji and the editing work handled by Deepu Joseph.
Churuli movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly be around 3 to 4 crore maximum.
Altogether, Churuli is a must watch film as it is completely unique and delivers something new to the audience in such a low budget.
