Sharmaji Namkeen Review, Box Office Result, Hit Or Flop On OTT?

Sharmaji Namkeen movie has officially released on OTT platform Amazon Prime on March 31, 2022. It is the last film of actor Rishi Kapoor and a perfect ode to his magnificent career in Hindi cinema. The screen time of this family drama film is around 1 hour 59 minutes.

Story: The story of this film revolves around Rishi Kapoor / Paresh Rawal aka Brij Gopal Sharma aka Sharmaji. As Rishi Kapoor died before completing this film, so the remaining scenes has been done by Paresh Rawal. So, Sharmaji has lived a peaceful life with his two sons in Delhi but now he is retired and spending most of the time at home. His elder son works in a corporate firm and about to get married and the young son is in college who loves free style dancing. By heart, Sharmaji is a cook and he thinks to start his cooking based stall across the local street. Both his sons didn’t want their father to open up a food stall. Contrary to the resentment of their son, Sharmaji got an opportunity to cook food for a kitty party. Soon, he got famous for his cooking and started getting orders for cooking food in their party and marriages. On the other hand, his sons didn’t know what Sharmji is actually doing. What happens when Sharmaji’s cooking job is being revealed in front of his sons. Is Sharmaji about to quit his hobby of cooking for the family and society or he will do what the heart says is what this story is all about. Juhi Chawla aka Veena Manchanda has a simple and sweet role to play here and we see some sort of chemistry brewing between Sharmaji and Veena.

This film also stars Suhail Nayaar, Isha Talwar, Sheeba Chaddha, Ayesha Raza, Satish Kaushik, Parmeet Sethi, Gufi Paintal, Sulagna Panigrahi and Ranbir Kapoor in a cameo.

The early reviews of Sharmaji Namkeen movie is out now and they are in a range of 3 to 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. Sharmaji Namkeen movie currently holds 8.4 stars ratings out of 10 stars on IMDB.

Bollywood Crazies Opinion: Sharmaji Namkeen is one of those films where we feel Rishi Kapoor is actually belongs as he is also an avid food lover in real life. So, playing a cook role in this film is perfectly suited to Rishi ji. It is one of his best performances that you must watch and you will surely appreciate it. As if, Rishi Kapoor has put the soul in the Sharmaji’s character. This film talks about the family relations and issues of today’s generation in a beautiful way. You can term it as the baby version of Baghban (2003) movie. The movie has been beautifully written and presented well. The conversations between Rishi ji and Juhi Chawla are the best thing about this film and remind us about the Bol Radha Bol (1992) days. The director has holded the emotions thoughtout the film and there is hardly any scenes that will bore you. It is a perfect family entertainer film and should be watched with the entire family. The dialogues are totally relatable and everyone can easily get connected with it. A must watch film for everyone. The film is just 2 hours and the good thing here is, it’s not stretched just for the sake of it. Now coming to the most important thing, the character Sharmaji which has been played by Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal in this movie. They have uncanny resemblance in this film and it hardly matters to you when you drawn in this beautiful film. Paresh Rawal also have done the role equally well though it was a challenging job for him. In sort, watch it for the simple yet relatable family based story which is the need of the hour.

This movie has been written and directed by Hitesh Bhatia. This film also being co-written by Supratik Sen. It have been produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Honey Tehran and Abhishek Chaubey. The cinematography has been done by Piyush Puty and the editing work helmed by Bodhaditya Banerjee. The musical score has been given by Sneha Khanwalkar.

Sharmaji Namkeen movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly being around 24 to 25 crores maximum.

Altogether, Sharmaji Namkeen is a good film and a must watch for Hindi cinema lovers.

Last Word: Watch it for Rishi Kapoor as it is his last film and you will miss him in every scene. It will also make you emotional as Rishi Kapoor has entertained us over the years. The end credit of this film where the music of Rishi Kapoor old film plays is when you actually miss him more. We always love you Rishi Kapoor.
