Shabaash Mithu is the latest Hindi film which has officially being released in cinema theaters on July 15, 2022. The screen time of this sports drama biopic film is around 2 hours 43 minutes. This film has been based on the life journey of Indian female cricketer and one of the longest Indian Captain Mithali Raj. She recently announced the retirement from all forms of cricket and she is the recipient of Padmashri award.
Story: The story is located at Hyderabad where Taapsee Pannu aka Mithali starts playing cricket at the age of 10. Despite being a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, she starts liking cricket as one of her friend Noorie also loves this sport. Over the years, this film showed the bonding of Noorie-Mithali and cricket. Both of them were picked up by a local cricket coach Vijay Raaz aka Sampath, who taught them the skills of cricket. Well, this film shows the struggle of Mithali as cricketer and also shows how Indian Women cricket team are being treated in-front of their male counterparts. This is a beautiful and motivational journey of Mithali that has been aptly played by Taapsee. Not to forget, the others characters in the Indian team have been aptly choose and looked convincing.
This film also starts Brijendra Kala, Mumtaz Sorcar, Devadarshini, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Priya Kumari, Ramya Suresh and many others.
The early reviews of Shabaash Mithu movie is out now and they are in a range of 2 to 2.5 stars out of 5 stars. This film has been rated with 3 stars out of 10 stars on IMDB. Interestingly, Shabaash Mithu holds 80 percent interest on Bookmyshow which seems good.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: The story is good but it hasn’t been written well. The film is too big to excite you and there are scenes that couldn’t add value to the story. The film could have been tighter and must be around 2 hours maximum. The film took a good start but in the middle it seems slow and fractured. The last 20 minutes are good but till than its too late. I won’t blame Taapsee here as she nailed the character pretty well but its the screenplay that had some issues. The thrill part was missing in this film and that is the biggest culprit. Another character Vijay Raaz as coach has delivered some beautiful lines here in this film. The conversation between Taapsee and Vijay was good. The dialogues are nicely written and sometime it also impact you will. The overall feel of this film is just above average still a good effort from the makers to tell the story of our legend Mithali Raj. Even after these flaws, I would easily recommend for one time watch. The music is decent and goes with the flow. The production value is ok but it could have been much better.
Shabaash Mithu movie has been written by Priya Aven and direced by Srijit Mukherjee. It has been produced by Ajit Andhare. The editing work has been done by A Sreekar Prasad and the musical score given by Salvage Audio Collective.
Shabaash Mithu movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly being around 28 to 30 crores maximum. As producing a historical film is always a costly affair and that too a biopic.
