Pawankhind is the latest Marathi movie which has officially released in cinema theaters across Maharashtra on February 18, 2022. The screen time of this historical film is around 2 hours 31 minutes.
Story: The story of this film revolves around Chinmay Mandlekar aka Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his commander Ajay Purkar aka Baji Prabhu Deshpande. So, Astad Kale aka Siddi Masud and Sameer Dharmadhikari aka Siddi Johar from Vijapur, Adil Shah Sultanate surrounded Panhala, where Shivaji Maharaj and his men were guarding the area. In this battle, Shivaji Maharaj was taken to a safe area by few of his men and commander Baji Prabhu remains near the vicinity of Vishalgad fort in order to face off the Siddi Masud army. Baji Prabhu has sacrificed his life in order to save Shivaji Maharaj. Despite a win for Siddi Masud, he has lost most of the men than Shivaji Maharaj army. This battle took place on July 13, 1660.
This film also stars Mrinal Kulkarni aka Aausaheb, Ruchi Savarn, Prajakta Mali, Surabhi Bhave, Kshitee Jog and many others in key roles.
This film currently holds 9.9 stars ratings out of 10 stars on IMDB which may change as the reviews started pouring.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: The historical story has been aptly told by the makers. The story is well written and the dialogues are applause worthy. The direction had been brilliant from Digpal Lanjekar. He doesn’t leave any loopholes in this film and stick to the story plot throughout. The screenplay is good and the background music has given more meaning to the visuals. Talking about the performances, Ajay Purkar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Sameer Dharmadhikari have surprised us with the performance. Even, rest of the cast has supported the film equally. The VFX work wasn’t up to the mark but still the production values is great. The editing team didn’t included any unnecessary scenes which is why it looks impactful. This film will surely be a hit in cinema theaters across Maharashtra. The cinematography even works wonders for me, especially the close eye shots of Baji Prabhu Deshpande character is the best I felt. Shooting in a rain and that too an action scene isn’t easy but the makers did it wonderfully. I haven’t seen such an incredible film in years and I am truly mesmerized by it. This film will give you adrenaline rush in the last 30 minutes for sure.
This movie has been written and directed by Digpal Lanjekar, who has earlier made great historical movies like Farzand (2018) and Fatteshikast (2019). This movie have been produced by Ajay Arekar, Aniruddha Arekar, Bhausaheb Arekar. The cinematography has been done by Amol Gole and the musical score given by Devdutta Manisha Baji. The editing work has been taken care by Paramod Kahar.
Pawankhind movie budget hasn’t been revealed yet by the makers but it could reportedly be around 13 to 15 crores maximum.
Altogether, Pawankhind is one of the best Marathi films of 2022 and it should win state and National awards.
