Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat has completed 4 days at the box office. Despite losing 25 percent screens across India, this film is still marching towards 200 crores club.
Made with a 200 crores budget, Padmaavat was one of the ambitious projects of SLB. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, this film was based on the poem written by Malik Muhammad Jiyasi in 1540. Though, there is no confirmation whether it is was a real story or a fictional work. But, SLB made this film with a Disclaimer that it is a fictional work based on the poet.
Ranveer Singh film has collected 5 crores from paid previews, followed by 19 crores on day 1. This fictional-tale has collected 32 crores on day 2, 27 crores on day 3 and around 30 crores on day 4. It takes the final total to 113 crores at the box office.
Despite protests and non-release of Padmaavat in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, this film is winning audience heart in a big way. Though it is not the best work by SLB still it is a great film after Bajirao Mastani, which released in 2015.
As per the latest report, this film has collected 76.26 crores from its overseas market in just 4 days. This is an exceptional response to a Bollywood film and it is the second biggest opening weekend overseas collection by a Hindi film.
