Netrikann (The Third Eye) is the latest Tamil film which has officially released on Disney Plus Hotstar on August 13, 2021. The screen time of this crime thriller film is around 2 hour 25 minutes. Netrikann is the official remake of the South Korean Film Blind (2011).

Story: The story of this film revolves around Nayanthara aka Durga who is a CBI inspector. She lost her eyesight and her step brother in a car accident. Now, she is on her own in this cruel world. She wants to join CBI as a desk job but her seniors don’t hire her due to her eye sight issue. It’s been two years now since the accident, she is somehow regaining eye sight but only see 10 percent.

One fine day, Durga was being called by her step-mother who still blames her for the death. Now, in a panic situation, Durga left her mother and waiting for a taxi to get back home in the midnight. Well, Ajmal Ameer aka Dr. James Dinah is the criminal here, who torture girls in his house and sexually assault them. So, James saw Durga and insisted her to get in to his car. Durga thought, James is the Cab driver but things turns awry when he hit someone with his car. Now, Durga understood that something is fishy and James now tries to take control of her. She hit him badly and James fled away with a car. Durga can be seen in the police station where she files an FIR against the unknown guy.

In the police station, K. Manikandan aka SI Manikandan shows interest in this case and starts searching for James. Another twist in the picture here is, Sharan Shakti aka Gautam, who is a food delivery guy, understood that police is searching for the same person, who has hit his bike too. Now, Gautam is trying to help SI Manikandan and Durga to nab James. Will, this three trio able to stop the cruelty of James is what this story is all about.

The early reviews of Netrikann movie is highly positive in a range of 3 to 3.5 stars out of 5. This film currently holds 7.6 stars ratings out of 10 on IMDB.

Bollywood Crazies Opinion: First thing first, Nayanthara was flawless in her role and she again did her magic on the screen. Playing a blind girl role is not an easy task but she has lived the character pretty intensely in this film. The villain played by Ajmal Ameer is another highlight of this film. There are only few characters in this film and the story is revolved around them. So, the story is simple to understand the screenplay made it more easy to grasp the film. The film’s length is the issue here, that could have been easily cropped up to 15 to 20 minutes. That means, the makers could have made this film with a run time of around 2 hours would have been much better. The music is decent enough and the camerawork too look normal. The story seems to be a bit stretched, else its ok. The director has made a good enough film to watch with friends. It’s not a family film and you better skip if you are not a crime thriller movie fan.

Netrikann movie has been directed by Milind Rau. This movie has been produced by
Vignesh Shivan and Hyunwoo Thomas Kim. The cinematography work has been done by R. D. Rajasekhar and the musical score given by Girishh Gopalakrishnan.

Netrikann movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly be around 6 to 8 crores maximum.

Altogether, Netrikann is one of those film that is horrifying as well as gory at the same time.

Last Word: Watch it just for Nayanthara, she excelled in her character.
