Mimi is the latest Hindi movie which released on OTT platform Netflix and Jio Play on July 26, 2021. The makers were earlier planned to release this film on July 30 but this film was surprisingly leaked on internet on July 26 and therefore it has officially released at 6.30 pm. The screentime of this comedy drama movie is around 2 hours 12 minutes. This film is a Hindi remake of 2011 Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychay.
The story of this movie revolves around Kriti Sanon aka Mimi, who is a small town struggling dancer who dreams to be a Bollywood heroine one day. Out of a sudden, Pankaj Tripathi aka Bhanu met a foreign couple who wants a surrogate child from Indian mother and ready to pay a handsome amount of around 20 lakhs. For this, Bhanu met Mimi and offered her to be a surrogate mother for a foreign couple who couldn’t able to have a baby on their own.
Mimi agrees to this as she thinks this money will help her dream of becoming heroine come true. Now, Mimi along with her best friend Sai Tamhankar aka Shama are ready for this task. Mimi left her home so that her parents don’t know about it and so she left her town with her best friend Shama. The shocking thing here is, the foreign couple shockingly changed their decision and says they don’t want the baby anymore. Now, Mimi is heavily pregnant and can’t abort the baby so she now gets ready to deliver a baby. Well, what happen when her parents and society get to know about it is what you need to watch in this film.
This film also stars Surpriya Pathak aka Mimi’s mother, Manoj Pahwa aka Mimi’s father, Akash Solanki, Jaya Bhattacharya and Amardeep Jha. The foreign couple rope played by Aidan Whytock aka John and Evelyn Edwards aka Summer.
The early reviews of Mimi is positive, still it’s too early to say anything about this film.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: Mimi movie story is entertaining and has a strong message with it. The topic of surrogate mother has openly discussed in this film and how big this business is in India. The story is something different and it is easily relatable. The audience will definitely love it as this film features Pankaj Tripathi in one of the lead roles. He is just a laughter machine and aptly cast in this film. The writing of this film is equally brilliant and the situational comedy did worked for me. The music is tap worthy and my favourite dance number is Param Sundari. And the great this is, A R Rahman has given the music of this film. The cinematography is ok ok and it has perfectly matched with the film’s screenplay. Those who don’t know, Kriti Sanon has gained 15 kg weight for this film inorder to look like a healthy mother. It is a big task for a heroine to change her figure as it takes lot of time.
The film is colourful and the Rajasthani flavour are pretty evident in every screens. The real locations of this film make this movie more authentic and true to reality. This comedy film has turned out a tragedy film after 1 hour and it is really shocking in the second half. The director has made this film worth watch from first frame to the last one. My favourite dialogue of this movie is, when pregnant Mimi told the lady doctor that, ‘Why people don’t accept the unborn child and they abort them, the baby is inside and it is still alive and so why don’t people accept it. How it is fair to kill a baby inside a womb!
Mimi movie has been directed by Laxman Utekar. This film has been written by Laxman and Rohan Shankar. This movie has been produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jio Studios. The cinematography work has been done by Akash Agarwal and the editing work helmed by Manish Pradhan. The music work has been done by A R Rahman.
Mimi movie budget hasn’t been officially revealed by the makers but it would reportedly be around 18 to 20 crores maximum.
Altogether, Mimi is the latest Hindi film that is shocking and entertaining at the same time.
