Bollywood Crazies Opinion: I have seen few Hollywood films based on this theme of Time-loop and I did enjoyed it too. This film still somehow reminds me of 1998 German film Run Lola Run, despite that wasn’t a time loop. Still, the narrative of both the films looks similar, as the protagonist has to run several times to save the day. That’s not all, Vantage Point (2008) Hollywood film has a similar type of plot, except time loop thing. So, such narrative we have seen mainly in Western films but seeing the same thing in Tamil film Maanaadu was something new for me. This film has taken serious creative liberty as presented a much needed Indian flavored Time-loop film. Performance wise, Abdul and Dhanushkodi were extremely brilliant. Presenting Abdul as a protagonist has a lot to tell in this film. The story was incredibly written and the screenplay is just awesome. Let me remind you, making such films is not easy, when the same shot has been repeated several times. Still, my 2 hours 30 minutes were well spent in this film. The makers even gave Indian mythological reference of time-loop. There is only one song, no romance, no major action scenes, no one liners, just the film followed the path of its story. This film is technically strong and also being emotionally well on point. The plot is so convincing that you forget anything else in this movie. Great editing work, background score and cinematography, which added more meaning to the story. The film is so good that even Telugu and Hindi remake of this film has already being planned. This is not a new concept but really a new one in India. We as an audience need such fresh stories for entertainment. You can watch this film at multiple times as one time is not enough to understand this movie.

Maanaadu movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could be reportedly around 8 to 10 crores maximum.

Maanaadu movie has been directed and written by Venkat Prabhu. This movie has been produced by Suresh Kamatchi. The cinematography work done by Richard M Nathan and the editing handled by Praveen K L. The musical score has been given by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Altogether, Maanaadu is one of those films that you shouldn’t miss at all. One of the best flicks of 2021 from India.

Last Word: Watch it for the performances of Silambarasan and S J Suryah. Also watch it for the direction, background score, cinematography and editing. The Loops To Be Continued! means there is part 2 definitely coming.

Bollywood Crazies Ratings: Brilliant (80 percent out of 100 percent).
