Raghawa Lawrence’s debut Hindi release Laxmii has officially released on Disney Plus Hotstar on November 9, 2020 at around 5 pm. Earlier, makers wanted to release this film on OTT at around 7.05 pm but in the evening they have suddenly released it prior time. The screen time of Laxmii is around 2 hours 21 minutes.
Laxmii is an official remake of Tamil film Kanchana, which is also famously known as Kanchana Muni 2 movie originally released in 2011. Interestingly, Raghawa Lawrence has directed both these films.
The story is like, Akshay Kumar aka Asif and his wife Kiara Advani aka Priya are happy married couple but they didn’t married by taking their family’s approval. After 3 years of marriage, Priya’s mother call both of them to come to home to make her father happy. When Asif reaches Priya’s family house in Daman, Asif goes and play with kids in an open ground. Soon, Asif character can be seen doing weird things and many suspect some thing is wrong with him. What happens next is what you need to watch. Will Asif able to overcome his new troubles or will Priya’s father get impressed with Asif is interesting to watch.
Laxmii movie also stars Ayesha Raza Mishra, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharad Kelkar, Tarun Arora, Ashwini Kalsekar, Rajesh Sharma and many more.
Comparison With Original Kanchana Muni 2 Vs Laxmii: There are few changes in characters in both the movies but the rest of the story is very similar. Even, the original Kanchana Muni 2 screen time is around 2 hours 51 minutes but here it is 30 minutes short. The VFX work has been much better here as compared to the original, all thanks to latest VFX technology.
Laxmii movie had been produced by Fox Star Studios, Cape Of Good Films, Shabinaa Entertainment, Tushar Entertainment House. This film has been written by Raghava Lawrence, Farhad Samji, Sparsh Khetarpal and Tasha Bhambra. The cinematography has been done by Vetri Palanisamy, and Kush Chhabria. If you haven’t watched the original Kanchana Muni 2 that you will find this movie really interesting or you will find it normal. There is nothing new in this film but yes it has made with a good message for the society and audience.
Performances: Watching Akshay’s performance is a treat to watch. Another actor that surprised me completely is Sharad Kelkar. Rest did their job decently in terms of acting. The early response from film critics is out now and they are in a range of 2 to 2.5 stars out of 5. Meanwhile, Laxmii has got a rating of 4.3 out of 10 so far.
The budget of Laxmii movie hasn’t been officially released but by looking at the film one can say that it would be reportedly over 50 to 60 crores.
Altogether, its a fun ride film for the whole family to watch this Diwali 2020. This film will be a hit online due to its entertaining content. Even if it released in theaters, it would have easily crossed 180 to 200 crores lifetime in normal scenario.
