Actor Sahil Vaid, who has impressed with his spectacular screen presence in films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, is also a trained voice actor. It is a lesser known fact that Sahil is one of the country’s biggest names in the voice industry.
As a voice actor, Sahil Vaid has lent his voice for several big ventures, like for Paul rudd in the Ant Man movies, he was the Hindi voice of the Beast in The Beauty and The Beast, he lent his voice to the super talented jack black in Jumanji, you heard Sahil as the quirky cricket commentator in Zoya Factor, Mission Impossible as Benji (Sean penn), Deadpool as Wiesel with Ranveer Singh, he was the mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland (Jhonny depp) and he lent his voice to Brad Pitt in money ball and George Clooney in gravity…. And that is an impressive glossary of work and the names go on and on…
Sahil says, “Voice acting isn’t challenging for me because I am not just a screen actor but also a theatre actor as well. It becomes easier to be a voice actor if you are a screen or theatre actor as you understand character and subtext. Me being a trained actor, I bring to my voice acting the elements which I generally learn on stage or when I am performing in front of the camera. And this works both ways, my voice career helps me better myself in the stage and on camera”
“The challenge is for the studio owners who cast me for the characters. I act behind the mic, that limited space where i do the scene and often knock off the water bottle, it’s not just speaking dialogue. The only limitation is that I have to dub the other actor and that’s something that gives me a new dimension every time i voice someone new. There are numerous possibilities of saying a particular line or a character could be played in so many different ways. It also gives you a different perspective to that possibility. Voice acting is not challenging but enlightening as an actor every single day,” he adds.
Besides this, Sahil is currently shooting the remake of Coolie No. 1 alongside Varun Dhawan and this is his third film in a row with Varun after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
