One of the most awaited releases of 2023 was Bawaal movie which was expected to release only in cinema theaters but somehow it has managed to release directly on OTT. A film like Bawaal is a perfect cinema theatre material but still it didn’t reached the theaters at all. It has officially released on Amazon Prime Video on July 21, 2023. What if Bawaal movie could have a theatrical release rather than coming on OTT, what could have been its collections!
Here we are going to talk about Bawaal movie box office potential if it had a theatrical release. A film like Bawaal could have easily received around 2900 to 3000 screens in India and around 500 screens in overseas market.
Bawaal movie buzz was there and it was for the first time Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor facing the screen together. This could have helped the film to get some sort of advance sales and a good first day collection. Bawaal movie box office collection on day 1 could have been around 7 to 8 crores nett maximum in such conditions. The word of mouth could come into play post day 1 which is not so good so far. In such a scenaro, Bawaal movie first weekend collections could have been in a range of 18 to 20 crores nett maximum. In the first week, Bawaal movie could easily rake 29 to 30 crores nett maximum. Till lifetime a film like Bawaal could wrap up in a range of 43 to 44 crores nett maximum.
That simply means that Bawaal negative word of mouth would have spoiled this film in theaters in the first few days only. Still, the movie could have worked on the star power of Varun Dhawan and the popularity of director Nitesh Tiwari.
Bawaal movie budget hasn’t been officially revealed by the makers but it could be somewhere around 78 to 80 crores maximum. That means, Bawaal could be consider a flop film in theaters, if it had released this Friday. Well, Bawaal will be a profitable venture for makers as they will get their budget recovered from OTT, Satellite, Music rights for sure.
