Aamir Khan is the biggest superstar of Bollywood, whose films not only do great business in India but also in overseas market. Aamir Khan was born in Mumbai’s Holy Family Hospital in Bandra. He was born in a conservative Muslim family and his real name is Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan. His father Tahir Hussain was a Bollywood film producer and his mother Zeenat Hussain was a housewife. His father has produced movies like Caravan, Anamika, Madhosh, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. His father has produced and directed only one film for Aamir Khan, that is Tum Mere Ho in 1990.
For Studies, Aamir Khan went to J.B. Petit School, St. Anne’s High School, and Bombay Scottish School. All these three schools were in Bombay now (Mumbai). He has three siblings, who are younger to him, Faisal Khan, Farhat Khan and Nikkhat Khan.
He first acted in a film in 1973, Yaadon Ki Baarat, where he was a child actor. Then he played a small role in his father’s production film Madhosh in 1974. He then acted in films like Holi, Manzil Manzil, and Zabardast. He shot to fame with his blockbuster hit film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which was directed by Mansoor Khan and produced by his uncle Nasir Hussain. This film has made both Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla as a superstar of Bollywood. He then worked in a movie Raakh in 1989, which received special mention in National Awards.
Aamir Khan’s 1990’s film Dil was also turned out to be a blockbuster hit, which also stars Madhuri Dixit in lead role. His another major success is Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, which released in 1992. He jumped into comedy with Raj Santoshi’s film Andaz Apna Apna, which is now considered as a cult comedy film. His tapori character in Rangeela in 1995 and Ghulam 1998 was heavily praised. His 1996 film Raja Hindustani has turned out to be a major hit and he received Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
In 2001, he started his production company, which has co-produced Lagaan film, directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar. This film has made it to top 5 lists in the Oscars Awards for Best Foreign film, which is a dream for other Indian filmmakers. He then gave hits like Dil Chahta Hai, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, and Ghajini. In 2007, he tried his hands in director and made a beautiful film Taare Zameen Par. His action film Ghajini has become first Bollywood movie to cross 100 crores mark. In 2009, he gave a super hit film 3 Idiots, which is still everyone’s favorite.
From 2010, he produced few different and out of the box films like Peepli Live, Dhobi Ghat, and Delhi Belly. His 2013 film Dhoom 3 has shattered many records at the box office. He gave another big hit film in 2014, P.K, which crossed over 300 crores at the Indian box office. His 2016 film Dangal has broken all the record at the box office by collecting 387 crores lifetime in India. Dangal has also grossed over 1200 crores in China, which is an exceptional thing for an Indian film.
Aamir Khan has now produced a beautiful film Secret Superstar, which stars Zaira Wasim in a lead role, where Aamir essays a Music Composer. His next big film is Thugs Of Hindostan, which will be released in Diwali 2018.
In his personal life, he first married to Reena Dutta in 1986 and they got divorced in 2002. He later married to Kiran Rao in 2005. He has three kids Junaid, Ira, and Azad Rao. He is the recepient of Padma Shri in 2003, and Padma Bhushan in 2010. Till now, he received 23 nominations and won 8 Filmfare awards. He also appeared as a host in a critically appreciated show Satyamev Jayate in 2012, which has turned out to be a huge hit.
