The early reviews of Toofaan movie is highly positive. It seems like, Farhan delivered yet another gem after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013).
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: First of all, Farhan Akhtar did an impressive job for over a year to be get into the shoes of a boxer physique. He has been trained by international and Indian boxers to learn the techniques of boxing. He actually gets into the skin of the character which makes Aziz Ali story a believable one. The dedication level of Farhan into his characters are always compelling. This film gives us a feel of Mithun Chakraborty’s Boxer (1984), Aamir Khan’s Ghulam (1998), Salman Khan’s Sultan (2016) and Mukkabaaz (2017). This film also gives us a vibe of Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy (2019). This film has right kind of drama and emotions, which will connect with you some or other way. The rap song in the middle was a surprise one but it worked out for me. The songs were good and it looks amazing. The dialogues were rooted in Mumbai style and it has been written nicely. One of the dialogue reads like, ‘Bhai Mohabbat Ka Chingum Mat Fulaa, Fatenga To Apne Muh Par Laafa Aayenga’, this kind of Mumbai’s Tapori language did give an additional flavour to the film. There were some dialogues in this film that we have heard several times in Bollywood movies, and it looks kind of repetitive here in this movie as well. They did try to make this film an emotional melodramatic one but I don’t think they have fully nailed it. The film is good with its production value and the content is really compelling. The most amazing thing is, all the shooting has been done in Dongri area of Mumbai and it adds value to the film. The screenplay was good and hard hitting.
Toofaan movie has been helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It has been produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, and Mr. Mehra. This film has been written by Anjum Rajabali and Vijay Maurya. The cinematography work has been done by Jay Ozha and editing work helmed by Meghna Sen. The music department has been handled by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Dub Sharma, Samuel Akanksha.
Toofaan movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it would reportedly be around 35 to 40 crores maximum.
Altogether, Toofaan movie is one of the best sports drama film of 2021 and yes Farhan delivered a good film. This film would have worked in theaters and could have turned out to be a hit, especially in Mumbai circuit.
Last word: Watch it for Farhan Akhtar’s character potrayal. Not to forget, Mrunal Thakur did give a good performance here and she is such a natural actor. Even, Paresh Rawal’s role is a meaty one.
Bollywood Crazies Ratings; Toofaan Review- Brilliant (80 Percent out of 100).
