Story: The story of this web series is based on Novel Empire of the Moghul by Alex Rutherford. The story revolves around the Mughal Emperor Babar played by Kunal Kapoor and set in the late 14th and early 15th century. Babar used to rule Ferghana and wants to capture Samarkand which is being held by Dino Morea aka Muhammad Shaybani.
At the very early age of 14, Babar become the king after the sudden demise of his father Umar Shaikh. Now, Shaybani has eyes on Ferghana and he knows that it’s easy to capture that from Babar and his men. To save the family and the people of Ferghana, Babar himself ready to give his kingdom to Shaybani over few conditions. Well, the shocking thing here is, Shaybani asks for Babar’s sister Drashti Dhami aka Khanzada Begum from Babar for the safety of the people of Ferghana. Now, Khanzada is with Shaybani and Babar left Ferghana for the people. Will, Babar able to defeat Shaybani ever and recapture Ferghana and take Samarkand is what the story is all about.
The webseries also stars Shabana Azmi aka Aisan Daulat Begum, Aditya Seal aka Humayun, Sahher Bambba aka Maham Begum, Imaad Shah aka Qasim and many others.
The early reviews of The Empire is highly positive and get good response for making a grandeur series on the scale of Baahubali. The Empire series currently holds a ratings in a range of 2.5 to 3 stars out of 5. This series holds a rating of 2.9 out of 10 on IMDB.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: The Empire series promises a big larger than life experience and delivers it somehow. The production value of this series is humongous but the VFX was not up to the mark. The costume, hair styling and characters were aptly chosen but only few have left the mark. For me, it was Shabana Azmi and Dino Morea who did a good job here. Kunal Kapoor’s performance was a decent one but not better than then the above mentioned names. The BGM and longer shots are something that hooked me in this series. Making a series like this is not a piece of cake and all marks given to the female director here, Mitakshara Kumar. It is one of those web series that people will remember for its scale and story.

The screenplay charge have been handled by Bhavani Iyer and Mitakshara. The dialogues were written by A M Turaz and Mitakshara. The background score has been done by Ashutosh Phatak.
The Empire web series budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly be around 40 to 45 crores maximum.
Altogether, The Empire is one of those web series that you could watch one time for sure, if you are a fan of periodic films.
