Shamshera movie has been officially released in cinema theaters on July 22, 2022. The screentime of this historical drama film is around 2 hours 38 minutes.
Story: The story of this film revolves around 1871, where India was stay way behind their independence. This seems a fictional story where Ranbir Kapoor aka Shamshera aka Ballu belongs to a Khameran tribe which is a lower class tribe. The upper class tribe always take upper hand on Khameran and torture them. Seeing this troubles and torture, Shamshera becomes docait and fight for the rights of his tribe. Well, Shamshera was fooled by Sanjay Dutt Aka Shudh Singh who is a police officer. Due to that, Shamshera and his tribe had to stay in jail for the rest of his life. While trying to escape, Shamshera seems to be shot by Shudh Singh’s men. Well, the story forwarded to 25 years further, where Shamshera’s son Ballu is now grown up and now he wants freedom for his Khameran tribe who is trapped from years in Shudh Singh’s prison. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
This film also stars Ronit Roy, Vaani Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Tridha Choudhury and many others.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: The story is average but the writing is decent. The screenplay is not up to the mark which is why this film looked slow and boring at some time. There are few scenes which is interesting and well shot but overall, Shamshera seems to be an average affair which hardly has any emotional. The makers did try their level best but still it didn’t worked for the film. The production value is good but still there are issues with the film. Like, Vaani Kapoor’s costume in the first half is not at all relatable to the era which the film showcases. Talking about the performances, Sanjay Dutt stole the show clearly from Ranbir Kapoor by miles.
Shamshera movie budget hasn’t been revealed by the makers but it could reportedly be around 120 crores maximum.
Altogether, Shamshera movie is not everyone’s piece of a cake but it might work in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
Last Word: Watch it only for Sanjay Dutt’s incredible performance. Ranbir Kapoor is good but the film is all about Sanjay Dutt powerful character.
