Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is the latest Hindi movie which has officially released in cinema theaters on July 28, 2023. The screen time of this romantic drama film is around 2 hours 48 minutes 33 seconds. This film has been certified with UA Rating by Indian Censor Board.
Story: The story of this film revolves around Ranveer Singh aka Rocky Randhawa who is a wealthy grown up man and lives with his family. Dharmendra essays the role of Rocky’s grandfather whereas Jaya Bachchan essays the role of her grand mother. One fine day, we see Dharmendra’s character Kawalji utters the name of Shabana Azmi aka Jamini. This made everyone suspicious in the house. Even, the doctor who checks him says that if you find Jamini than your grandfather health might get improved. After that, Rocky finds a diary of his grandfather and an old photo of Jamini. This makes Rocky curious and he began to search for Jamini. Well, he finds an article which talks about Jamini on the internet. This led to the address of Jamini, where Rocky mets Alia Bhatt aka Rani. Actually, Rani’s grand mother is Jamini. Well, both Rocky and Rani united Kawalji and Jamini after almost 50 odd years. During this tenure, even love sparks between Rocky and Rani. Rocky is a hardcore Punjabi boy whereas Rani is a Bengali girl. Rani soon realises that Rocky’s family is strict, especially his grand mother. Soon, Rocky and Rani decides that if they have to get married they must stay 3 months to opposite families. Now, Rocky starts living in Rani’s family and vice versa. Will, Rocky and Rani ever get married in such difficult conditions? is something that you must watch in theaters.
This film also stars Tota Roy Chowdhury aka Rani’s father, Churni Ganguly aka Rani’s mother. This film has cameos of Varun Dhawan, Ananya Pandey, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: The story of this film is very good but the execution is not up to the mark. The screenplay has some issues and the movie didn’t able to impact me to the whole. Though, I must say that there are some good writing and dialogues that made me feel connected and relatable. We have seen such movies in the past but the presentation is something new here. Ranveer has essayed such characters in the past too, therefore you might relate his character here with the crazy Ranveer from Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) Or Ladies Vs Ricky Behl (2011) or even Befikre (2016). So, he didn’t impress me as such but still a decent role. Alia looks really beautiful here and I liked her character and it seems like her role was inspired by Madhuri Dixit’s character in Beta movie (1992) where she had issues with Anil Kapoor’s mother in the film Aruna Irani. As, same situation was there here too in the second half between Alia and Jaya Bachchan in this movie. There are few messages in this movie both for men and women and I think they are good ones. My most emotional dialogues comes when, Dharmendra sir says, “Ghar Toda Nahi Karte Bete”, which means “Don’t Break Home my son.” The highlight of this movie was Jaya Bachchan’s character. The soul touching performance have been given by Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi here, as every old or new heart broken person could relate with it. It was a decent film but we have seen exceptional direction from Karan Johar in the past, which was missing here. The cinematography is good and there is a song that took my breath away which was shot in Jammu and Kashmir. The music is not up to the mark which is the biggest flaw for me as Karan is always good in that part. The emotions were there in the film but still the movie won’t leave a big impact on you. Still, the multiplex audience might liked this movie. There are many smooching scenes in this film, which could have been easily avoided as family audience might not liked it. The editing is ok and the film could have been easily trimmed for another 20 odd minutes for better audience retention value. The production value is superb and I liked the way they shot and shown the devotional song. The set design in the devotional song was good. I think, Jaya Bachchan stole the show here from new starcast.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani movie budget hasn’t been revealed yet but it could reportedly being around 118 to 120 crores maximum.
Altogether, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani movie is surely a one time watch movie for its family related message.
