Akshay Kumar starring Padman movie has completed its first day in a decent way. It was expected that this film will take a strong start at the box office but it didn’t take off well.
Made with a 20 crores budget, Padman got released in India in 2750 screens. It has collected 10.26 crores at the box office. It received an average audience occupancy of 40 percent in the first day.

It has collected $ 175,694 (1.12 crores) in USA, $ 25,969 (16.67 lakhs) in Canada, $ 39,850 (25.59 lakhs) in United Kingdom, $ 43,388 (27.86 lakhs) in Australia, and $ 22,182 (14.24 lakhs) in New Zealand. It got released in Overseas in 600 screens and in that way this collection is very good.
Directed by R Balki, this film talks about the life of Laxmikant aka Akshay Kumar, who wants to help women in periods by making low-cost sanitary pads. Though no one understands his work at first, soon he gets prominence. This film is originally based on the life of India’s Pad Man aka Arunachalam Muruganantham.
This film is being produced by Twinkle Khanna along with KriArj Entertainment. It also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in key roles. Altogether, it’s a valiant effort by the makers to make such a great movie on a social subject.
Altogether, Padman has started decently but the word of mouth publicity will help this film in a long run.
