Born in Ammankudi, Madras State on October 16, 1948, Hema Malini is currently 68 years of age. She was the third child in a Tamil-speaking family. Her mother Jaya Lakshmi Chakravarti is a film producer and her father name is VSR Chakravarti. For studying, she went to Andhra Mahila Sabha in Chennai. Soon, she went to study in DTEA Mandir Marg. In 12th standard, she left her college to make a career in film industry.
Talking about her movies, she first worked in Tamil film Ithu Sathiyam as a dancer and supporting actress. She went on to work in Pandava Vanavasam in 1965. She got her first big break in Hindi film directed by Mahesh Kaul, who starred her in Sapno Ka Saudagar. Interestingly, this role was offered to Vyjayanthimala but she refused to do it. This is how Hema Malini gets her first big role.
She later worked in movies like Abhinetri, Sharafat, Jhony Mera Naam, Seeta Aur Geeta, Sholay, and many more. Sharafat was the first film, she did with Dharmendra. They both appeared in a number of movies together. Apart from Dharmendra, Hema has worked with other actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Dev Anand, and Rajesh Khanna. Interestingly, she was proposed by Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra, and Dharmendra. Later, she married to Dharmendra, who was already married and had two kids, Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol.
Dharmendra and Hema Malini have two kids, Esha and Ahana Deol. Hema Malini is a trained classical dancer, who is mastered in Bharatnatyam. Hema Malini is also being known as a Dream Girl of Bollywood. Even, she has a movie with the same name. She even worked in Television shows in early 2000. She worked in Jai Mata Ki serial, directed by Puneet Issar. She also appeared in shows like Kamini Damini, Noopur etc.
She also joined Politics in 2003, where she was a member of Rajya Sabha till 2009. In 2014, She was the seat in the Lok Sabha Election, by beating Jayant Chaudhary with 3,30,743 votes. She was also served as the first female chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) for 3 years.
