Durgamati is the latest release film released on Amazon Prime OTT platform on December 11, 2020. This film screentime is around 2 hours 35 minutes.

The story of this film is like, Arshad Warsi aka Politician Ishwar Prasad who seems to be a honest politician but has a dark shade too. To put the corrupt politician behind bars, the other politicians pressurised police and CBI to come up with proof against the noted politician. Well, Ishwar Prasad’s secretary Chanchal Chauhan aka Bhumi Pednekar (IAS Officer) who is currently serving jail term is being illegally brought to a haunted mansion in order to interrogate her against the politician Ishwar Prasad. What will happen to her when Chanchal is in the haunted mansion? Will she able to survive or tell the truth against the politician is what you need to watch in this movie.
This Hindi film Durgamati is officially based on 2018 Tamil and Telugu bilingual film Bhaagamathie which star Anushka Shetty in key role.
Durgamati movie also stars Karan Kapadia, Mahie Gill, Jisshu Sengupta and many others. This film has been written and Directed by G Ashok. It has been produced by Vikram Malhotra, Akshay Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar. The cinematography has been handled by Kuldeep Mamania, and editing done by Unnikrishnan P.P. The background score of this movie given by Jakes Bejoy.
The early reviews of Durgamati is out now and critics have rated it around 2 to 2.5 stars out of 5.
Performances: Bhumi Pednekar did give her best for Durgamati but still Anushka Shetty has excelled it in the original Bhaagmathie.
The budget of this movie hasn’t been revealed but it would reportedly be over 10 to 12 crores easily. If this film could have released in theaters, it would have worked out and recovered its budget.
Bollywood Crazies Opinion: Though the film is well made but it lacks emotions. The emotion is a key to the audience connection but here this film didn’t able to do that properly. For me it’s a film that I will never second time. I feel there is no horror element left if you have already seen the original one.
Altogether, Durgamati is a one time watch film and that too if you like horror movies.
Last word: Watch it for G Ashok’s direction, story and Bhumi Pednekar performance.
