Made with a budget of around $200 millions US dollars (Rs. 1470 crores), makers had premiered the film on March 9, 2020 in Hollywood. They were about to release Mulan in theatres but due to coronavirus this film has pushed dates several times. So the makers finally opted for digital release on Disney+ with additional premium fees.

The makers are planning to release Mulan in several countries where theatres have reopened. Mulan has so far released in 9 countries and has earned US $ 5.9 million (Rs. 43 crores) in just first weekend. This film will also hit the screens in China on September 11, 2020 by China Film Corp.

Directed by Niki Karo, this film is a live-action adaptation of Disney’s own animated film Mulan which released in 1998. This film has been produced by Chris Bender, Jake Weiner, and Jason T. Reed.

Mulan movie stars Yifei Liu as Mulan, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jason Scott Lee as Bori Khan, Yoson An as Chen Hong hui, Jet Li as emperor of China.

Mulan movie has received 5.6 stars rating out of 10 on IMDB. It also got 77 percent rating on Rottentomatoes and 68 percent on metacritic. The critics rating of Mulan is in a range of 3 to 3.5 stars out of 5.

Right from the production sets, to costume design, this film look top notch. It is one of the best action films of 2020 that people should watch. The first half of the film is abit slow and dramatic but the second half gives you lot of goosebumps. There was some problem in the screenplay which is why it is difficult to connect with the money at some part. The cinematography is great and your eyes get pleased to see beautiful locales of China. It seems the makers didn’t took much liberty to present the story in live action format. The final battle sequence between Gori Khan and Mulan ended too quickly, which could have last long for 8 to 10 minutes. Anyways, Mulan is a good movie with slow paced screenplay.

As we know, the budget of Mulan is very high and the makers are targeting China market in a big way. If this film work wonders in China than the makers will easily recover its cost or the film will turn out to be an average or flop film.

If things would have normal than Mulan had a great potential to recover its cost. But in coronavirus situation, this film will release in scattered market across the world. Even, India is a big market for Disney films and the time will tell how Mulan works at the box office.

Last word: Watch it if you are a Disney films fan and want to witness your childhood animated Mulan in live action character. This film misses the bullseye still it is a one time watch film.

Bollywood Crazies Rating: 70 Percent (Distinction) out of 100.
