Kabhie Kabhie Music Composer Khayyam Passed Away At Age Of 92

Bollywood industry has just lost one of its treasures as renowned Khayyam Sahab is no more. Born as Mohammed Zahur Khayyam, who had a knack of passion for music, has died at Juhu based Sujoy Hospital in Mumbai due to lung infection. He passed away on August 19, 2019 at 9:30 PM following a cardiac arrest at a ripe age of 92.

He has earlier worked in Hindi Cinema with a name of Sharmaji of the Sharmaji-Varmaji composer duo with the movie Heer Ranjha in 1948. After the partition, co-composer Rahman Varma went to Pakistan and he than started working as a solo music composer. He gave music composition for Biwi movie and the song Akele mein wo ghabrate to Honge got very popular. He than worked in dozens of movies as a music composer. For Kabhie Kabhie (1976) and Umrao Jaan (1982) he won Filmfare music director award. He also won the National Award for Music Director for Umrao Jaan movie. He is also awarded the third highest civilian award Padma Bhushan from Government of India for his contribution in Cinema.

After knowing about the sad demise of Khayyam,  Lata Mangeshkar tweeted a series of emotional message about praising Khayyam’s work.

Very few know that, Khayaam sahab use to greet Lata Mangeshkar as her small sister. Even, she praised Khayyam for his perfection in his musical work.
