We were recovering from the loss of Irrfan Khan on April 29, but another sad news drop on April 30, that too the untimely demise of Rishi Kapoor. The Bobby actor took his last breath to a Mumbai H N Reliance hospital in the early morning.
Irrfan Khan Is No More And Left Whole Bollywood In Shock
Last night, Randhir Kapoor, brother of Rishi, stated to PTI, “He is in the hospital. He is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problem, so he has been admitted to the hospital. He is stable now.”
The Mera Naam Joker detected cancer in 2018. He was being treated in US before returning to India on September 2019. In February 2020, he was twice went to the hospital due to health issues. And now he is no more.
Rishi Kapoor family gave a statement which reads, “Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am 1ST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last.”
The statement also reads, “He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.
“He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.
“In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.”
Amitabh Bachchan, his co-actor in many films, tweeted, ” He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away ..I am destroyed !”
Akshay Kumar, “It seems like we’re in the midst of a nightmare…just heard the depressing news of #RishiKapoor ji passing away, it’s heartbreaking. He was a legend, a great co-star and a good friend of the family. My thoughts and prayers with his family.”
Rajinikanth sir said, “Heartbroken … Rest In Peace … my dearest friend #RishiKapoor”
Rishi Kapoor’s wife has taken good care of him in the past few years along with son Ranbir Kapoor but destiny has something else stored.
He was last seen in The Body movie where he featured alongside Emraan Hashmi and he recently signed a project with Deepika Padukone, which is a Hollywood remake of The Intern.
Rishi Kapoor will always be known as one of the most talented and gifted actors of Indian Cinema.
I just remember his pretty face saying….Main Shayar To Nahi….! Rest In Peace.
