I am not a critic but a movie lover and what I saw is something out of the world in The Shape Of Water movie. Interestingly, I haven’t seen the trailer and heard a lot about this film, when it won two Golden Globes for Best Director and Best Original Score. At that time, I was sure to watch this film and I actually took the right decision.

I know that I have seen such an Amphibian character before which is very similar to one in Pan’s Labyrinth, which was Spanish fantasy film released in 2006. I must tell you that it was hard to find the English version of this 2006 film, so I downloaded the movie from Youtube in Spanish language and watched it by downloading the English Subtitles. I never did this ever for any film but when I watched the trailer of Pan’s Labyrinth, I couldn’t stop to watch it.

Though, it wasn’t that difficult for me to watch The Shape Of Water and got the same feeling again, which I felt during Pan’s Labyrinth. The biggest surprise for me was, I got to know yesterday only that it was the same director Guillermo del Toro, who has directed Pan’s Labyrinth. Then I googled his work and got amazed to know that he is behind Hell Boy and Hell Boy 2.

Well, back on The Shape Of Water movie, which I saw. It talks about a mute girl Elisa Esposito Sally Hawkins, who got familiar with an amphibian Man, played by Doug Jones. The story is set in 1962 and I was convinced with every visual I saw in the frames. The detailing work for Amphibian man was out of the world. Apart from that, the old cars, sets, and production value of this film is top class. Michael Shannon, Michael Stuhlbarg, Octavia Spencer and Richard Jenkins also surprised me with their roles.

The music was touching enough to stir my soul and let my emotions flow just like a waterfall. The camerawork by  Dan Laustsen is appreciable. Altogether, I loved this film from heart and soul and I am sure this will get many more awards in the Oscars’s 2018. I am damn sure that it will get the best picture award or best director in Oscars 2018.

Altogether, It’s a must watch the film for all the cine lovers. It proudly deserves 5 out of 5 stars. It is set to release in India on February 2, 2018.
